Daniel Galvin Junior has been passionate about living an organic lifestyle since his late twenties. Since then he has been instrumental in not only the designer hair care market, but in changing the world of beauty for the better and uses organic ingredients in his own label Daniel Galvin Junior hair care and styling products and from there came the chance to develop the Duchy beauty range.
Daniel has always been careful about the products he used on himself and avoids anything with harsh chemicals. This awareness increased after the birth of his son in 2000. “I was interested in what went into baby shampoos so we started to do some research on the ingredients. Chemical ingredients found in hair products can ‘charge up’ kids like sugary, junk food. 60% of these synthetic ingredients are easily absorbed by the skin so you can imagine the harm it can cause children in the long run.”

In 2002 Daniel was approached on behalf of HRH The Prince of Wales to discuss becoming a licensee for the first ever Duchy beauty products range, which was launched in 2003, and has since gone a long way in educating consumers about organic ingredients and their benefits. Thanks to Daniel and the Duchy range it has become just as important about what we use on our hair and bodies as it is what we eat.
Daniel's previous research and knowledge helped in developing the new Duchy range, launching exclusively in Waitrose in October 2009, which is one of the first ranges to be awarded Soil Association Certification (COSMOS compliant) for new, more strict criteria with product improvements using recycled and recyclable packaging and higher specification materials including the eco friendly and bio-degradable nature of the product. These beauty products are the first to be both Soil Associated certified to the new higher standards.
When Daniel visits Highgrove he draws inspiration for the product ingredients from herbs and flowers in the garden. According to Daniel, "The Prince has a very pro-active role in all his products” Daniel feels privileged to be an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust. Profits from the Duchy product range supports The Princes Charities Foundation.
