Daniel Galvin Jr recently ran a competition in partnership with babyworld.co.uk and we’ve just had an article sent to us from the lucky winner, Kim Stone, detailing just how much she enjoyed her prize! We love to hear feedback from our clients, and since this one was a particularly enjoyable read we’d thought we’d share it with all of you!
“Although my children are no long babies, I have been a member and regular user of babyworld since the very beginning (1996). Now that I am undertaking a course at college (supporting teaching and learning) the site has proven to be valuable for my research into child development. In January this year I was delighted to receive an email telling me I had won the Daniel Galvin Junior competition on babyworld.co.uk. I’d entered the competition on the spur of the moment and had forgotten about it, so was shocked to find out I’d won.
I have just returned from an absolutely amazing trip to the Daniel Galvin Jr salon. I’m still grinning from ear to ear and will be for days (weeks) to come! A truly wonderful experience.
Due to a confusion with my initial booking it ended up that I have had two trips to the salon.
Our first visit to Daniel Galvin Jr salon
I first visited the salon on 10th April 2013. My daughter (Lois) and I had spent the morning exploring the sights of London so we arrived at the sleek looking Belgravia salon, tired and a tad dishevelled! I was nervous about presenting the salon with my unkempt, wild, mop of hair, but I needn’t have worried as they made me feel totally at ease and relaxed. Our coats were taken and we were offered a choice of drinks before discussing what I wanted from my appointment. Due to my increasingly obvious roots showing, I had hoped to have a colour done, as well as a cut and blow dry – but unfortunately this had not been noted after my initial phone call to book the appointment. The cut and blow dry were booked – plus a treatment, so we went ahead with that. Jessica was keen to ensure that I got a colour too, so we agreed to arrange that for a later date.
At all times the service was very personal and I felt reassured that they wanted to ensure I was happy and comfortable with everything they were doing. There is a great team dynamic and a warm friendly atmosphere amongst all the staff.
During my treatment, the stylist who was to be cutting/blow drying my hair came to introduce himself. Joe, a handsome, smiley young man, talked through what I wanted from my hair. He listened to what I had to say and offered me some suggestions – which I liked. A plan was formed!
An hour or so later I felt transformed. Joe had reintroduced my full fringe (which 6 months earlier I decided to grow out – then regretted), changed my parting to the middle and added some shaping around my face. The final touch was a fabulous blow dry – which gave my hair the body and bounce I longed for. I was presented with a selection of gorgeous organic fruity hair products and I left the salon feeling like a princess.
Our second visit on 11th May
Up until the morning of this visit I had intended to have the colour appointment myself, but it occurred to me that my daughter would enjoy the whole experience. So I asked her if she’d like to have the appointment instead, and she delightfully accepted. I hoped the salon would be ok with this – and it turns out that they were more than happy to accommodate this.
Being a Saturday, the salon was not as busy as our previous weekday visit and it felt more intimate. Joe (who’d styled my hair on my previous visit) recognised me and came over to speak to me and see how I was getting on. I was touched that he remembered me.
It turned out that the colour appointment was booked with Daniel Galvin Jr. Lois was in awe (as was I)! Daniel was extremely friendly and down to earth. I liked the fact that he immediately ‘got’ Lois and her style. Lois already had an individual style going on with her hair, and not wanting to tamper with it too much, Daniel talked her through what she liked and disliked about her hair. They decided to make a few alterations to the colour to create a more natural look. Daniel was genuinely interested in us and we chatted about our day. I mentioned that we’d traveled up from Devon and seeing as we’d travelled so far he very generously offered me a hair treatment, whilst Lois was having her hair done. This was totally unexpected and I was so grateful for this kind gesture. Within minutes it was arranged and Robbie whisked me off downstairs to the treatment room for a hair masque/steam treatment. Afterwards Robbie blow dried my hair whilst Joe blow dried Lois’s hair. We both felt and looked fabulous. We were sporting a cheesy grin all our way back home …to Devon! We’re still up on cloud nine now.
Next time we are in London we will most definitely be visiting the salon again.
Thank you so much to all involved, for allowing this wonderful experience to happen. It is one that we will never forget.
